Melanie Martinez To Continue US Headline Tour Into 2015
Former “The Voice” contestant and current Atlantic recording artist Melanie Martinez recently announced the addition of a third leg to her well-received US headlining “Dollhouse Tour,” according to a recent press release.
Due to high fan demand, Martinez has added a number of additional tour dates starting on January 22 that will take her to a number of Eastern, Midwestern and North Central states through February.
Martinez’s captivating video for her song “Dollhouse” has garnered over 11 million views on YouTube and was co-written by the singer along with Grammy Award-nominated songwriters Kinetics & One Love.
“Dollhouse” has also earned critical acclaim as the tune “positions Martinez as an American version of Lorde” according to Newsday’s Glenn Gamboa. “She’s an 18-year-old writing songs for and about teenagers in an authentic, memorable way.”
Us Weekly noted that Martinez “sings about a picture-perfect family that is much more troubled under the surface.”
The magazine also declared that Martinez, who competed on the third season of NBC’s reality singing competition “The Voice,” may “be the show’s first real breakout star.”
In addition to the success of “Dollhouse,” Martinez’s newest song, “Carousel,” from her debut offering, “The Dollhouse EP,” has been featured in the first extended trailer for FX’s hit series “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”
Yahoo called the music video for “Carousel” a “wild ride” and said:
“The video has everything: zombie carnies, freaky funhouse mirrors, scary dolls, levitation, light bondage, purple eyebrows, pink vomit … and Melanie’s haunting voice, of course, accompanied by the eerie tinkling of music boxes and the oom-pah-pah of old-school organ grinders.”
Since being put up on YouTube in mid-October, “Carousel” has amassed over 2.6 million views.
